How to Write an ATS-Friendly Resume

What is an ATS?
An Applicant Tracking System (ATS) is software used by employers to collect, sort, scan, and rank job applications. Over 90% of large companies use ATS to filter resumes before they reach human eyes. If your resume isn't ATS-friendly, it might never be seen by a recruiter, regardless of your qualifications.
Use Standard Formatting
ATS systems struggle with complex formatting. Stick to standard fonts like Arial, Calibri, or Times New Roman. Avoid headers, footers, text boxes, tables, and images. When using PDF, ensure it's text-based, not a scanned image. Test your resume by opening it in a plain text editor—if the content is readable, ATS should be able to parse it too.
